How to make a tasty Keema Naan

Tasty Keema Naan Recipe

Making a  Keemna Naan is very simple to do, and can be done very easily at home. The picture on the left is a keema naan cooked in the Tandoor, but if you don’t have a Tandoor you can always use your BBQ or even a frying pan in the kitchen. The picture on the right is cooked the second way.  I would really encourage to look at making these for your next BBQ. Or how about a plain naan to wrap around a sausage or burger instead of the traditional roll or bun.

Keema Recipe

Let’s start with the ingredients for the Keema:

  • 500g Minced Lamb
  • 2 tbsp ginger paste
  • 1 tsp chilli powder
  • 2 tsp ground corriander
  • 2 tsp garam masala
  • pinch of salt and pepper

Now there is no skill here or secret trick, all you do now is thoroughly mix the ingredients together and put to the side while you start on the naan.  Note I have used more mince than I actually need, mainly because I normally buy it in 500g packets. Don’t worry about making too much as I use the extra to make a shepherds pie.

Next we make the naan bread, and for that we need the following ingredients:

  • 200g Plain Flour
  • 100g Strong plain bread flour
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 1/4 tsp yeast
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 100ml milk
  • 100ml water
  • 4 tbsp natuural yogurt
  • 2 tbsp melted ghee, butter or vegetable oil

Start by putting the flours, salt, sugar and yeast into a large bowl. Add to this the yogurt, melted butter and slowly work in the milk and water. Mix with a wooden spoon and then turn out to knead for 10 minutes. Once kneaded put the dough in a covered bowl and allow to rise for about an hour. Once risen take out the dough, and cut into the size naan you prefer. Now it is a simple case of flattening the dough a bit, adding the keema into the middle, pulling up the sides to seal the meat in. Finally roll the whole thing flat and you are ready to cook.

In the video below you can see me making and cooking a Keema Naan. Note I show you how to cook it in the Tandoor, on a BBQ and also in the house using a frying pan.
